Breaking Bad

I'm sorry, what were you asking me? Oh, yes, that stupid plastic container I asked you to buy. You see, hydrofluoric acid won't eat through plastic; it will however dissolve metal, rock, glass, ceramic. So there's that.

-Walter White

Title: Emilio's Disposal
Edition Size: 300
Medium: 18x24 signed and numbered 4-color screenprint on Frenchpaper Speckletone

(This already sold out but I will eventually have some copies available.)

This is my piece for the Breaking Gifs the Breaking Bad Art Project put on by AMC and Gallery 1988. Here's a little description about the project:

As we approach the new season of "Breaking Bad," to celebrate and honor a show truly kept alive by its fan community, 16 of the top artists and graphic designers have been commissioned to create screenprints depicting some of the series' most memorable scenes, characters and shocking moments. These screenprints are hand-pulled, each its own individual work of art, in an edition of just 300, with only 200 available to the public through this project. Once the edition is sold out, they will never be printed again.

To be honest, I had never seen the show before I was asked to participate in the project but I had always heard good things. Since my piece was based off of something that happens in first season second episode I could've just stopped watching then, but I got addicted and ended up watching the whole series in three weeks. If you haven't seen this show, you really should. It is in my opinion one of the best shows on television today. It is so well acted and filmed I feel like i'm watching a movie. The final season starts July 15th and like a meth-head I am totally jonesing for it. I'll be sitting in front of the TV that night sippin' some Schraderbrau and eating some chicken from Los Pollo Hermanos.

You're Already Accepted!

This is my contribution for this weekends Six Seasons and a Movie - Community themed art show put on by Pixel Drip Gallery in Los Angeles at Monk Space located at 4414 West 2nd St. The event will be all weekend and feature over a 100 artists and a bunch of cool events. Sadly, due to time and money I was not able to have prints of this made, if their is enough interest I may do a small run of giclee prints.

UPDATE 6/26/12: OK, So I decided to do a small run of prints. Here's all the details about the piece:

Title: Greendale

I am charging $45 each for them and that will include shipping in the US. If you would like one you can email me at: montygog@yahoo.com and I will give you details on how to pay.

Sum of His Parts

This is my second piece that I did for the WonderGround Gallery in Downtown Disney - DisneylandIn a nod to the Aristotle quote "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts," I chose to focus on many of the elements that make up Mickey Mouse, including his most iconic 'parts' - big yellow shoes, buttons on his pants, and white gloves.

We Scare Because...

This is one of my pieces that debuted today at the brand new WonderGround Gallery at Disneyland’s Downtown Disney.

Here's a little info about the gallery. WonderGround Gallery is distinctive, eclectic and uncommon! Opening June 9, 2012, this contemporary setting is, in itself, a blank canvas, providing the ultimate venue where unique art collections, works from a new generation of artists and unexpected finds in home and lifestyle merchandise, take center stage.  Find more details about this new gallery on the Disney Parks Blog or www.ArtofDisneyParks.com. Also, here's a pic from the outside of the gallery. You can see a really large banner featuring my art.
